At MuscleDriver USA we are in the pursuit of the perfect barbell. In the last six months we have been working very closely with a new manufacturer to achieve this goal. By working with our new manufacturer located in North Carolina we have been able to form a tight relationship that most other companies only wish they had. We have taken everything that was not perfect with the old bars to make them exactly how we want them. We are lucky to be able to collaborate with one of the finest machine companies in the country. We felt it was important to work with a company that was very close to our Fort Mill headquarters but also one that has an undisputed reputation in the manufacturing industry and still is going strong after 55 years of business.
One overriding theme with our new bars is “consistency”. We guarantee that every bar from every production lot will stay within our very strict tolerance guidelines. Also, all bars will be calibrated to their exact weights with only a deviation of +/-0.5%. No other barbell supplier can give this guarantee. The tolerances for the shaft and collar dimensions are tighter than they ever have been before. All bars will have very distinct entry and exit points for the knurling, no more fade in and out. All bars conform to the relevent IWF or IPF specifications. We test each bar with an industry leading 3500lbs of force applied to the middle of the bar, and each bar must snap back straight, with no more than a .5mm deviation. All bars will be examined thoroughly for flaws prior to final packing. Any bars that do not meet our requirements are discarded. It is expensive to adhere to these tests, and it is expensive to discard any bars that do not meet what is the most extreme test of strength and durability in the industry. We feel it is worth it to insure that each bar shipped is ready and able to give a lifetime of use to our customers.
Another theme is “strength”. We eliminated inferior grades of steel from our selection. We also condensed our product line down. When you use only the best steel in the world there is no need to have a product line that grades their bars with ratings such as 700lb, 1000lb, or 1500lb capacity. Other manufacturers can stamp a max load of 700lbs or 1000lbs or even 1500lbs on their bars, but when you buy a Pendlay NexGen Bar, you know that we have not extrapolated a strength tensile number out of thin air. The very bar that you will be squatting or snatching with has been tested with many times more weight and stress than you will ever put on it before it ever leaves our facility. Our philosophy is simple, we are using the best materials, we guarantee your bar will not fail; if it does we replace it. That is our Lifetime Performance Warranty.
Another theme is “performance”. We eliminated defeating components such as a two-piece collar construction. We now machine our collars in all NexGen Bars from one single piece of steel, which makes us the only company in the world to do so. We also eliminated the use of hydraulic oil to lube the bars. Hydraulic oil is a liquid that always leaks out of bars; it is a poor lubricant and tends to attract grit and dirt, hence reducing a bars performance. We replaced all NexGen Bars with a high performance gel lubricant that is commonly used in high-speed machines that can withstand extreme temperatures. This gel will not leak out of the bar regardless how it is stored. We also converted to a bright zinc finish on all bars and steered away from the black zinc coatings. The new bright zinc is stronger, extremely rust resistant and far less harmful to the environment. Black zinc coating is a dying trade in the US. The by-product is so harmful to the environment it is only a matter of time that this method of coating is banned in the US by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Black zinc coating techniques are already banned in Europe. Bright zinc coating produces very little by-product and actually absorbs into the steel unlike chrome or black zinc that have a tendency to chip off or wear away. Our knurling is specific to the function of the bar. No cheese graters or "dug in" knurling in our product line.
Another theme is “pride”. Made in America by Americans. Enough said. This is so very important to us and we will not steer away from this theme. Made in America means we have total quality control with our product. We know everything about the product. We challenge all companies that buy foreign made bars to tell us the specifics about their bars. They cannot.
Please be aware that we do not offer drawings of our bars, materials used, or components used because this information is proprietary and closely protected. |
